Tower House For Sale
Dating from the mid-16th century, Lochhouse Tower is a category B listed tower house, arranged over four storeys. It is rectangular in shape with rounded corners, and has a set-back at thirdfloor level, a continuous corbel-course at the wall-head, a number of original openings and three wide-mouthed gunloops. The stone walls are over six feet thick, designed to protect the original occupants from attack during the frequent border skirmishes.

Over the years, the property fell into disrepair but was rescued in the 1980's and restored into a dwelling house.

On the ground floor is a chamber with a vaulted ceiling in which the kitchen now sits. Stairs lead to a living room, bedroom and shower room on the first floor, two bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor and a large open plan room at the top which could have a variety of uses.

Outside is a garage housing the oil tank and boiler, a walled garden and a paddock. In total the tower sits in over five acres of land.

The property is now in need of significant upgrading but offers a unique and rare opportunity for someone to own and live in a ‘Borders’ Tower house, and make their own mark on the history of the building.
